STATUTE OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE OF NAKHCHIVAN STATE UNIVERSITY

1. General Provisions

1.1. The Sustainable Development Centre (hereinafter – the Centre) of Nakhchivan State University (hereinafter – the University) operates on a public basis.

1.2. The Centre is established and dissolved by the decision of the Scientific Council of the University.

1.3. The Centre operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Education," other relevant laws, decrees, and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the University Charter, other legislative acts, orders and instructions of the University Rector, decisions of the Scientific Council of the University, and this Statute.

1.4. The Centre interacts with the University's structural units and relevant organizations while fulfilling its duties and exercising its rights.

2. Areas of Activity of the Centre

2.0. The Centre operates in the following areas:

2.0.1. Development and implementation of the University's sustainable development strategy;

2.0.2. Promoting scientific research in the field of sustainable development and creating a relevant database;

2.0.3. Ensuring the involvement of foreign researchers in the University’s scientific research activities and supporting their academic work;

2.0.4. Implementation of international research and innovative projects in the field of sustainable development at the University;

2.0.5. Supporting the development and implementation of educational and training programs on sustainable development;

2.0.6. Preparing annual reports on the University’s activities related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ensuring participation in relevant international ranking systems;

2.0.7. Organizing awareness-raising events and training sessions on the SDGs for students, faculty, and administrative staff.

3. Duties of the Centre

3.0. The Centre performs the following duties in accordance with the activity directions set out in this Statute:

3.0.1. Participating in the development of the University's sustainable development strategy and ensuring its implementation;

3.0.2. Supervising the organization of activities in compliance with international and national legislation on sustainable development;

3.0.3. Implementing initiatives to reduce the University’s carbon footprint and minimize environmental impact;

3.0.4. Encouraging scientific research in the field of sustainable development and creating information databases and resources for researchers;

3.0.5. Facilitating the involvement of foreign researchers in the University’s scientific research activities, ensuring compliance with national regulations, and supporting their academic work;

3.0.6. Supporting and coordinating the implementation of international research and innovative projects in the field of sustainable development at the University;

3.0.7. Supporting the development and implementation of educational and training programs on sustainable development;

3.0.8. Conducting awareness-raising activities to promote sustainable development principles among students, faculty, and administrative staff;

3.0.9. Expanding cooperation between the University and state institutions, non-governmental organizations, and partner companies in the field of sustainable development;

3.0.10. Preparing annual reports on the University's SDG-related activities and ensuring participation in relevant international ranking systems.

4. Rights of the Centre

4.0. The Centre has the following rights in accordance with its areas of activity and duties:

4.0.1. Proposing initiatives and participating in decision-making regarding the development and implementation of the University’s sustainable development strategy;

4.0.2. Requesting necessary information from the University’s structural units related to sustainable development and preparing relevant reports;

4.0.3. Establishing cooperation with local and international organizations, higher education institutions, and research institutes in the field of sustainable development and implementing joint projects;

4.0.4. Engaging foreign and local experts, specialists, researchers, and academic staff in the University’s sustainable development activities;

4.0.5. Monitoring the implementation of projects in the field of sustainable development at the University and providing recommendations;

4.0.6. Organizing various training sessions, seminars, conferences, and awareness-raising events on sustainable development and ensuring University participation in these activities;

4.0.7. Collaborating with partner companies, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations in the field of sustainable development and signing memorandums of understanding;

4.0.8. Participating in international and local research projects on sustainable development and applying for grant competitions.

5. Structure of the Centre

5.1. The employees of the Centre are appointed and dismissed by the University Rector.

5.2. The Centre is managed by a Director appointed and dismissed by the order of the University Rector.

5.3. The Director:

5.3.1. Organizes and leads the activities of the Centre;

5.3.2. Distributes tasks among subordinates, coordinates their activities, and monitors compliance with work discipline and execution;

5.3.3. Ensures the timely and high-quality implementation of the work plan developed to fulfill the duties assigned to the Centre;

5.3.4. Determines issues related to the Centre that should be discussed at the Scientific Council of the University and presents proposals to the University administration;

5.3.5. Submits recommendations to the University administration regarding incentives and disciplinary measures for the Centre's employees;

5.3.6. Requests necessary information and documents from the University's structures to fulfill the Centre’s duties;

5.3.7. Ensures that incoming letters, applications, complaints, and proposals are reviewed in accordance with the legislation;

5.3.8. Represents the Centre.

6. Final Provisions

6.1. Amendments to this Statute may be made by the decision of the University’s Scientific Council.
