Overview & Structure

The SDG Club of Nakhchivan State University has established a structured governance and coordination mechanism to support the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of activities related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Executive Board serves as the principal coordinating body of the Club and is responsible for the strategic organization of its projects, events, awareness-raising activities, and other initiatives. It also contributes to defining the Club’s priority areas of activity and ensuring the systematic implementation of its annual programme.

To facilitate the integration of SDG-related activities across the University’s academic community, nine Faculty Chairs have been appointed to coordinate the Club’s activities at faculty level. The Faculty Chairs serve as a link between the Executive Board and students within their respective faculties. Their responsibilities include supporting the organization of SDG-focused activities, facilitating student participation in projects and initiatives, and promoting awareness of the SDGs within the faculty community.

Student engagement represents a significant component of the Club’s organizational capacity. The SDG Club currently has a volunteer network of 160 members, representing different faculties and academic fields across Nakhchivan State University. Volunteers contribute to a broad range of activities, including awareness-raising campaigns, educational and outreach initiatives, SDG-related projects, excursions, community engagement activities, and public events. Their participation provides students with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, project-management, and civic engagement skills while contributing to the University’s sustainability agenda.

The organizational structure comprising the Executive Board, nine Faculty Chairs, and 160 student volunteers provides a coordinated framework for advancing the SDGs throughout the University. This structure facilitates the dissemination of sustainability principles across faculties, strengthens student participation in institutional and community-based initiatives, and supports the continuous implementation of SDG-related activities. Through this coordinated approach, the SDG Club contributes to embedding the Sustainable Development Goals within the University’s educational, extracurricular, and community engagement activities.

SDG Club carry out responsibilities in managing the Club’s activities, coordinating projects and events, and involving students and young people in SDG-related initiatives.
