A symposium dedicated to February 4th - World Cancer Day was convened at the "Nakhchivan State University Clinic Public Legal Private". Held under the theme "Get Checked Today - Detect the Disease in Time," the event featured insights from Associate Professor Elmar Rzayev, the chief doctor of the hospital, who highlighted the recent surge in pancreatic, prostate, and lung cancers, emphasizing the critical need for timely screening and intervention for cancer, a disease with one of the highest global mortality rates. Associate Professor Gultekin Aliyeva shared her expertise on the pivotal role of nutrition in cancer development, stressing the harmful effects of certain dietary choices and advocating for the avoidance of foods detrimental to human health. Additionally, Associate Professor Matlab Ibrahimov addressed the ecological aspects and implications of cancer in children, while Gadir Aliyev underscored the significance of individual risk factors, dietary habits, and environmental influences in cancer incidence. As part of today's roundtable, geared toward fostering awareness, educational pamphlets were disseminated to attendees.
