The Opening Ceremony Of The “Psychological Service And Child Development Center” Was Held At Nakhchivan State University

On October 15, 2025, the “Psychological Service and Child Development Center” was officially inaugurated at Nakhchivan State University. The Rector of the university, Elbrus Isayev, stated that the opening of the center is of great importance for the training of highly qualified psychologists. He noted that the university has been offering a bachelor’s degree in Psychology since 2021, and that starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, training in the “Developmental Psychology” specialization has also been introduced at the master’s level. The Rector emphasized that the Psychology program, like all other academic directions at the university, is given special attention and is continuously updated in line with new developments in the field. He added that the newly opened center is equipped with a rich material and technical base, allowing students to gain practical skills through simulations both during classes and extracurricular activities. Elbrus Isayev also highlighted various academic events aimed at enriching scientific knowledge, particularly mentioning the first-ever First Forum of Azerbaijani Psychologists held at the university. It was underlined that both the organization of such events and the establishment of the center will not only improve the quality of psychology education at the university but also contribute to the overall development of the field in the country. Chapay Guliyev, Director of the Master’s and Doctoral Center and PhD in Psychology, provided information about the purpose and activity directions of the newly established Center at Nakhchivan State University. It was noted that the center, established for psychological service and teaching purposes, is planned to operate in two main directions. In the “Psychological Consultation” room, psychological services will be provided to members of the university community in need of psychological support. Meanwhile, the “Child Development Center” will enable students of the Psychology program to gain practical experience through practice-based learning. Nurana Salimova also provided information about the activities of the Child Development Center and its available equipment. It was noted that the center is equipped with tools such as the “Play Attention” system for supporting children with attention deficit and hyperactivity, virtual reality equipment for addressing various phobias and adaptation issues, the “Forbrain” device for speech development support, and additional materials aimed at improving sensory adaptation and addressing different psychological developmental delays in children. It should also be noted that after the event, a meeting was held between Rector Elbrus Isayev and students of the Psychology program, during which students’ proposals were heard and their questions were answered.
