On May 20, Nakhchivan State University (NSU), in collaboration with the Office of the President’s Representative in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the Trade Unions Council, held an environmental conference titled "The Role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Environmental Protection in Azerbaijan." This event aimed to enhance sustainability awareness among various community segments, including alumni, local residents, and university volunteers, aligning with the SDGs and Azerbaijan’s “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” initiative. The conference celebrated the contributions of Heydar Aliyev in promoting ecological balance and sustainable practices, highlighting national strategies for protecting biodiversity and using natural resources efficiently. The event was a tribute to Azerbaijan’s environmental heritage and aligned with preparations for COP29, where Azerbaijan will contribute to global climate action. In a practical extension of the conference, NSU students, alumni, and local residents participated in a tree-planting activity and cleanup campaign in the Batabat area. This community-engaged event emphasized environmental preservation, supporting the establishment of Nakhchivan as a green energy zone. Participants also attended workshops to learn about sustainable practices, enhancing the outreach and educational impact of NSU’s commitment to sustainability. This initiative underscores NSU’s role in uniting diverse community members around environmental issues and SDGs, empowering them to take an active role in sustainable development efforts.
